Nope, the other one is still rocking and now peeping, so hopefully soon.
Maybe it's just because "she" is still adjusting to being in the big 'ol world, but she is so much more social than anything I have ever hatched before
Well Emu #2 didn't make it. Couldn't get the egg to rock this morning no matter what I did, so I pipped the large end of the egg and after wetting the membrane I could see the baby's head and everything, but no movement what so ever
.
Baby was very packed in the egg, when we bought the eggs Hubby picked out the one smaller egg out of the bunch, I asked the seller if this egg would be harder to hatch, as I know with chicken eggs you are not supposed to set the smaller or miss-shapen eggs. The seller said no, it would just be a smaller baby, so we took the one smaller egg, and 2 of the normal sized ones. Well the baby was so tightly packed, I do think it had room to move it's head into pipping position. Oh well, I'm just glad we at least got one chick, but hubby was sad that his Emu didn't make it, so I told him I would share, and this would be the most spoiled Emu ever.... Well next to Wardens with it's pink snuggie. My Emu had to make due with a normal blankie last night
sorry to hear #2 didn't make it...don't hold #1 too much...they really need to gain strength getting up and down off the ground on their own..to strengthen their legs. Baby Emu's are very needy little birds compared to other chicks...watch them carefully, keep them warm...and I would even add some chick electrolyte/vitamin and nutrient supplement in their water...it really helps them to get more active and gain strength quicker..I use it with my Emu chicks, and Quail and it helps a ton.
