Upset and worried

I got my baby chicks 3 days ago. By the end of the first day my RIR was struggling with pasty butt. Everything seemed fine. Today took a turn for the worse. She lost a lot of weight and but seems to be eating and drinking. She whined all morning and wanted the other chicks to cuddle her. Eventually she got comfortable, but I noticed she was lethargic. So I gave electrolytes. It's been up and down. Then I noticed her abdomen looked swollen under her leg. I don't want her to suffer but I don't want to take her life. I'm just distraught.

Feed her some hard boiled egg yolks. Also, what temperature is your brooder? It is probably dehydration. Poultry nutri-drench is something you can give straight and it will help her recuperate.

It's 90 under the light. They aren't directly under it though. She seems comfortable. I'm gonna let her rest and try the boiled egg in the morning. I will have to go get some nutri drench.

You can raise the light a bit, as long as they are not huddled under the light, it is warm enough

Hopefully the other ones will be okay.
Nutri-drench and hard boiled eggs are good to have on hand in case a situation like this arises.
I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Sorry you lost that one. Some chicks are born with defects that just do not allow them to thrive and grow no matter what you do.
