I had some eggs hatch this week and one of the eggs pipped on the small end of the egg. The egg never hatched so I opened it and the chick was still alive but one leg is permanently extended behind the chick. Has anyone ever seen this? Any hope of recovery by the chick?

I did not take a picture but I'm happy to report he can now use the leg OK.
