Good day
Im new to BYC and a bit of an introvert hence why I have not introduced myself yet.
My name is Jean, I live in Sunny South Africa and I am rather new to Urban farming
I am loving it, I have a veggie patch coming along, quail coop on one end and in the other far end
Ill have the chicken coop.
Ive read up a lot on the whole Coryza and quail killing it does, I will have a closed chicken flock which
I will take to the vet to get vaccinated. Im hoping this will keep my Quail safe.
*What will be the distance be that I need to keep these birds apart?
*Any other diseases or ailments that can cross over?
Then, my local law states that I can only keep 5 hens, as long as they free range. I was hoping to keep
Bantams like the Dutch Bantam, Pekin and maybe a Silkie if I can. Then I discovered the Aracauna, though
rare here, I can get my hands on a few. So I was thinking of keeping 3-4 Bantams and 1-2 Aracauna.
*Can I keep them all in the same coop?
*Can I create two Coops and keep the Bantam and Aracaunas apart?
*What will the min size be for a coop that will keep all these birds? 4 Bantams & 1 Aracauna or 3 Bantams and 2 Aracaunas.
Kind regards
Jean

and Welcome To BYC! There is a nice article in the Learning Center on figuring out how much space you need for the flock you want
