Our duck turfed an egg while we were out, younger daughter didn't know what to do, we assume it to be dead and opened the egg. As we where digging a hole and then it opened its eyes and looked at us. We had to cut it from the yellow sack, is their any hope for this little guy? Any ideas on how far along he was? We have him under a heat lamp ATM. Please help!

he looks to be pretty fully formed, probably would have hatched in a couple days, i don't know if he'll make it though, he seems to just be laying as if he is in the shell...

Okay that is good... yes, but he's still breathing.. i hate to admit it but we were just about to bury it and i realized it was breathing! i just came in the door from a 6hr+ trip...

My ydd didn't know what to do and left it, the egg was on the porch of the duck barn, so it was proper cold! The op of this thread btw is my oldest daughter!!

Thanks i have a 250watt that is over it... i have no clue when the nest itself is due, but the eggs are moving according to my oldest daughter just came in from putting the flock in...

what a day...

we did all we could, i guess.. still pretty disappointed. What a night, my youngest hollers that the light has gone dead(over the baby) so i try taking the bulb out it snaps off and blows! with a POP that ended for sure, i was trying to handle it and wouldn't you know it, bam it hits the wood floor and shatters so i have glass everywhere.

i found a 200 watt bulb to use instead, sadly nothing we did was enough... i have no idea what is happening with the nest i'll have to check later after i get the kids to school. Clearly based upon that ones development they are fairly far along.

Thankfully all the babies we got yesterday are stable, that was one fun ride.. i think i have had barely 5hrs sleep, the house is 100 degrees and we're set to storm, get ducks, they are a stress reliever, sure they are... when exactly is that??

When you look into that little fuzzy face with the little smile curling up at the edges, those bright eyes, when you hear that bare ducky feet on the floor patter....

I have those everything-is-closing-in-fast days, too. Yuck.

I was so confused when I saw 2 posts and both were yours GQ or so I thought. I'm so sorry you lost the wee one. Any sign of more hatching?

Well my oldest took to the board to ask as I was so busy I couldn't see straight and she has an account so easier than her using mine.

No not a thing I have no clue what is happening she lifted for a moment while I was cleaning this am I saw eggs but no life at least yet, clearly by the progress of the one who passed they are
Fairly soon, ....

Whether I'll live long enough who knows lol
