We just bought our first chicken from an auction. A pair. The rooster is perfectly fine and has been seperated. The hen was not doing so well today so I checked her out and she's got eggs ALL OVER her. So much for my day off today. What do I do? I've seperated the others. She hasn't come in contact with my other birds. Do I bathe her with lice shampoo? What do I do?

I have covered them in a mix of diatomaceous earth and seven dust. Cut out as much of the eggs as I could and seperated both of them.

DE isn't going to solve your problem. It doesn't work and can cause respiratory problems. Sevin dust is no longer recommended and not really considered safe anymore for use on chickens. I would use the permethrin products (or their equivalent). You will need to retreat at least 2 more times at 7 day intervals to get the eggs that continue to hatch. Where ever they were housed will also need to be cleaned out and treated as well, all bedding removed and discarded or burned, to make sure you get them all.
