So I came in today to remove the automatic turner from my hovabator as it was about 2.5 days to expected babies. I was shocked to find that about 5 of the eggs already had little beaks starting to poke through. I pulled out the turner and returned the eggs to the bator as quickly and carefully as I could. As of right now I have about 6 eggs just starting to crack, and one who is completely out. The hatched chick appears very wet and is flopping around a lot knocking the other eggs around, which makes me worry both about him and the other eggs. What should I do?

They're always wet when they first hatch out. Get your heat lamp set up for the new hatches with room for them to get closer/further away as needed so they won't cook, and move the chicks over as they stand up. Also set up waterer and food, but lamp is primary. You didn't mention how many eggs total you are incubating. Others may have more advice on how to treat the remaining eggs.

I'm hatching 42 eggs total. 36 black australorps and 6 japanese silkies. I'm just really worried that with him flopping about so violently he could harm the others trying to hatch. He also looks so wet and uncoordinated, though being a first timer I don't have much to compare with.
