Urgent please advise !!! One egg has hatched !!!!!

Oh goodness, just went to get my silkie out for her afternoon drink and eat and when I picked her up I noticed one of eggs was broken and was very sad, but then I heard CHEEPING and the chick was underneath her !!!! So I put chick back in nest and mum went back to it. What do I do now. leave them alone ?????? Give mum some chick crumb ????? keep an eye on them ??? Oh I am sooo excited but nervous to do right thing. I even posted a thread in wrong topic forum Ha Ha .. Please advise !!!!

I would just let mother nature takes care of the chick.
Don't bother mother hen and chick, it can make them worse...

Congratulations!!!!

When my hen hatched her eggs I put a bowl of chick starter near her along with a chick waterer. She won't leave the nest right now because her chicks are hatching. When she is done, she will show the babies how to eat and drink. I also cooked some scrambled eggs and gave them to her. The chicks don't need to eat right now. Good luck and don't forget to post some pictures!

Hi Is very exciting how many more eggs does she have under her? let them be until they all hatch I peek every hr or so I cant help myself. The chick will stay under Mama to get dryed out. I give mine chick stater after 24 hrs and I bring mama water as mine wont even move while the eggs are hatching

I also cook mama up hard boiled eggs and hand feed it to her while she is sitting there.... Good luck

Thanks for the advice. She has one more egg but as I was discussing under a thread earlier ( what does this mean air sac) That we were questioning how far away from hatching they were as the eggs were not even a dark colour when candled and although we had an idea it was tomorrow it was such a surprise !! Well I will go and give her some chick crumb and a chick waterer and leave her be although my 28 yr old daughter will want a quick peep when she comes home. As I quickly put chick back I did not check which number egg had hatched so the other one maybe the one we think is no good ! Oh Dear now the fun begins !!!! When is it safe to take a photo ????
