Oh My goodness I just went to check on my broody hen to let her out for a while and I noticed one of her 2 eggs broken and thought oh dear what a shame. But I could hear cheeping !! And where I had picked her off her nest the baby was underneath her !! I gently put the chick back and mum went back to the chick. This must have happened today so what next !!! Di I just leave well alone ???? and start giving mum the chick crumb etc !! Oh I am so happy but nrevous as I want to do the right thing !! Please help in right direction !!!

Make chick food available and water, she will know what to do ...

Congratulation

My advice: Give mom the chick starter & let her mother them. Make sure the mom & babies are isolated from the rest.

Enjoy!

Yes they are isolated in a lovely big nest and 6 x 6 foot run. I will give her the chick crumb and safe water container and make a safe one available for the chick. When will chick come away from mum and venture out on its own ?

it realy depends on the chicks and the mom... my 8 weeks old baby bantam is never more than a foot away from mummy!
