Use by date on freshly culled chicken?

Hi all.

My first post.

How long after culling, plucking and gutting, and wrapping in cling film can a freshly culled chicken be kept for?

Also I'm after meat and eggs, can anyone recommend a good breed for here in the UK?

Hope someone can help :)
 
It is usually recommended to let a freshly butchered chicken "age" in the refrigerator 2-3 days before even thinking if eating it (but I've eaten them that same evening) I would think that 3-5 days should be "OK" ... If you want to keep it longer, put it in the freezer between day 2 and 3 ...

Sussex and/or Orpington's would do you well ...
