Using feathers

Does anyone use the feather from plucked chickens?
I've noticed how lovely and soft the down feathers are on my Marans
Not that I'm intending ever killing any chickens but I just wondered if they get used?

The pelts of feathers off of some breeds of roosters are worth much more than the meat for fly tying.
