Using shredded paper in a nesting box...

Is it ok to use shredded paper in a nesting box?

I say no, the ink could be harmful. My shredder also gets plastic from windows of envelopes.

I doubt that there is any lead-based ink in use in the United States any longer. Glossy paper is not too absorbent, so it probably should be avoided in favor of regular paper. I toss in the contents of our home shredder as a small portion of the usual pine shavings.
