Was just wondering. I've seen where the chicken people will make feeders out of PVC that they use to go away for the weekend or just only fill once a week. I typically feed morning and then again at night but was wondering if anyone does this with their turkey. Mainly looking for something if I were to go somewhere for a day than I am at looking to feed all the time with. I'm kind of afraid it I left 2 days worth of food they'd just eat it all day one.

Appreciate any info.

Thanks

What type of turkeys do you have and how many?

I have 8 bourbon red that are almost 5 months old and 6 BB that are the same age. The BB will be processed in November so I'm looking more for something for the bourbon's.

Shouldn't have to worry about your BR over eating I have feed available 24/7 for all my heritage turkeys. But the BB probably would they are eating machines. I use metal and plastic hanging feeders, plus a large range feeder that I made that holds over 100 lbs of feed. But I would say a large 30 lb capacity metal hanging feeder should last 8 birds 3 maybe 4 days.

I keep food available to all my poultry all of the time. That included the BBWs when I was raising them. They did have daily free range access too.

Birds that have food available all of the time do not tend to "pig out" like ones that only have access at set times.
