Vaccination against respiratory illness

Just reading one of your articles and it mentioned vaccinating against respiratory illnesses.
I live in Perth Western Australia and I've never heard of this.
Can someone tell me if this is essential and what the vaccination called?

Did the article mention what country it was in?

I know that many chicken keepers in the USA have healthy chickens with no vaccinations of any sort. So it is certainly not "essential" in the US.

But if the article said the vaccine is essential in a particular country, there might be conditions in that specific country that make it different than what I'm used to in the US.
 
IB Infectious Bronchitis is a quite common vaccination often combined with New Castle disease, at least here in Germany.

Another vaccination is against avian ILT Infectious LaryngoTracheitis. The effectiveness of the ILT vaccination varies widely as there exist too many different strains to be combined in one vaccination.

Both IB and ILT are viral diseases of the respiratory tract:
