This morning 3 of my "teens" were gone. I had just put them in that coop, no signs of struggle or feathers anywhere. Any advise? I don't have a live trap but I don't know how something like a raccoon or opossum could have gotten in? Im thinking about putting out some rat poison blocks that I have, what else can I do? I am just sick to my stomach about it :(

Have you checked for tracks...signs that a predator was mulling around? How old are your birds? Can you post a pic of your coop..maybe one of us can spot something you might have overlooked? Is there any chance that they got out on their own somehow and are somewhere around and you just haven't spotted them yet? Do you live in an area that has predators...raccoons, fox, cats, etc.?

So sorry and I know you must be worried sick!

Also be careful with those rat blocks!!! If your chickens or any of your other animals get a hold of those things they are deadly not only to rats, mice, rodents... But to other animals too!!!!

I can probably get a picture later tonight. Its a 10x10 "run" that has 2x6s at the bottom and v-mesh horse fence enclosing. It has a solid enclosed "coop" area where they usually sleep at night and where the nest boxes are, but it doesn't close. The only thing I can think of is the others didn't let these 3 in the coop and they were pulled through the v-mesh. Still don't know how that could happen but I don't know what else. The v-mesh is not big enough for them to get out of but I have heard of critters pulling chickens through smaller wires, I just thought there might be some sign of trouble if that was the case :(

Funny how some of these critters can just pull chickens through mesh wiring!!!!!!
I have a girlfriend who had some chickens pulled right through the mesh wiring she had around the coop. No sign of struggle, blood, and none of the mesh wash beaten... It's kinda scary! :/ :/ I hope you can figure out a solution so you don't lose anymore chick a dees. So sorry for your loss. :(
