vent about husband and chickens. {long}

okiehen, I know just what you are saying. Trust me...he will give in. Here is our story, of how WE got into chickens.
We bought this home in 2005. The first summer we were here, found an injured RIR roo in my yard. ( we are in the country) So, I take him in, and get him all set up in a little pen...he was eating well, drinking, and even crowing! So, I tell DH...we have to get a few hens, he is sooo lonely. Oh, DH grumbled...sumthin sumthin...chicken poo everywhere....grumble grumble. So I tell him, honey, only 6 or 7 hens, for eggs, wont it be nice to have fresh eggs!?? He relents...and I get 4 laying hens from a neighbor. Well...of course thats NOT enough for one BIG roo...so I find chicks...12 of them in the local hardware store. Yup, I bring them home. grumble grumble...chickens need a bigger place he says...they look crowded! HAHA! He is succumbing....LOL
Then the same place I got the peeps, guy has frizzle banty cochins...they are sooo cute. Luckily, I got the last 3, 2 hens and a roo! Awwww....big ones are picking on little ones, they need thier own coop.
OK, that was 2005/2006. Its now 2008....we have:

Buff Orpington coop - 14 hens 2 roos

RIR coop - 4 roos 6 hens ( I know bad numbers but they free range)

Baby pen...with 8 Langshans(18 weeks old) 2 buffs,and a RIR all hatched same day.

Frizzle pen 1 roo 3 hens

I have a Turkey coop..3 hens one Tom

I have another coop, with 4 seperate pens..
1) EE 5 hens 1 roo
2) Hospital pen, 3 hens, one silkie roo
3) Langshans 3 hens 1 roo
4) silver Pheonix 1 hen 1 roo.

I have a brooder in the garage with 9 babies, and 30 eggs in the incubator...and the plans drawn up for our next summer project.. a 12 x 24 coop, with 4 seperate pens and runs.
Trust me...they cave....eventually they love the chickens as much as we do...or at least, when no one is looking! LOL

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I'll be working on him now.
