Sooo this morning I went to check on my duckling (8 days old) and his entire vent was sticking out?! It's red and weird and I've been having problems with him lately:( he seems normal and is active it's just his vent is sticking out!!! It's red and might be slightly bloody:( I rubbed Vaseline and sugar on it but I don't know what to do!!!! I think it's prolapsed vent (positive) but I've just never heard of it on ducklings! Could it be fatal??? HELP

This does happen sometimes with ducks. You can try a little Vaseline on a q-tip and very gently try to push it back in. If it keeps happening though or you can't get it back in, you may need a vet to fix the problem.

Maybe someone else has other suggestions for you? Good luck!

No his only litter is soft napkins. Photos aren't working for me:( I tried to get it back in but no luck. After I put some witch hazel is seemed less red. Hopefully it'll be better by morning. Any more tips?

You need to use something like petroleum[vaseline] or prepH or some kind of stuff like those 2. Then you get it good and lubed up and try to push it back inside. Do it with your finger using anything smaller may perforate the tissue. Main thing is you don't want the tissue to dry out and it will unless you keep it lubed up. till it shrinks enough to go in on it's on or with help
can the lil one poop?
