We got a great coop made for us at a very very reasonable price. The only down side we saw is that it came with the door for the chickens and then the cleaning door and nest box. No ventilation in this *huge* coop. My dad and I figured we could work with that and he would come over and help me get ventilation on the top of the coop.
I was and we were curious if house vents would work? The ones you put into the ground for your heater and air condition? We found a good supply of skinnier longer ones that have holes for screws. They open and close just like house ones do.
I don't see any problem with using them... it would keep predators out so we wouldn't have to put mesh up.... we would put them along the sides at the top...
