I'm in the process of starting to build my new coop. The size of of coop is 12' deep X 16' wide which includes a work/storage area. My two questions:

1. I plan on venting the coop under both the eves on the 16' wide side, will that we enough? (pic attached)

2. when installing my 3' x 6' windows, do I want the screened part of the window to be at the bottom or top?

Thanks for everyone's help...

Are the windows potentially going to be open at night to vent when it's hot outside? If so I would say on top so air flows above chickens heads when roosting.
What design are you using for your coop? What is your environment like?

For instance, I live in the desert. My coop is open front with vents in all walls with the front taller than the back to move warm air out. But I need a way to close the front when it's cold or too windy.

Edited to add that's going to be a nice coop!

Thanks for including your location. It helps. Can you stop what you are doing long enough to put together a quick sketch of your coop design, INCLUDING, orientation, north, south, east and west? Where you propose to put nest boxes, roosts, door, windows, etc.

Also what type of floor this thing is going to have.

Feed and water inside or out? Run?

I would say the top...BUT...I always recommend top hinged windows so they can stay open all summer and protect from rain entering the coop.
But I already told you that here:

Reminds me I need to get out my hole cutting bits and work on the back half of my coop. The flock hates that half and It is probably because even though it is in perpetual shade it has only a 2x3' arched doorway in it. Cool I have my one modification for today figured out.
