I received 4 barred rocks 7 weeks ago. They are now 11 weeks. They were supposed to be 3 females & 1 male well one of them ended up to be a dominique because it has a rose comb and I think it's a male but not sure. This is Charley the dominique:

And there is Rosie who is dark with dark legs so I thought for sure she was a pullet but now she seems a little bigger then everyone else and she is acting very rooish & her criwn and wattles are getting big so now I am not sure!! This is Rosie:

So now there is Moby Chic who was supposed to be the only male:https://www.backyardchickens.com/content/type/61/id/5435570/width/200/height/400[/MG]
And this is Faith. I am pretty sure she is a pullet:

So what do you all think?? I am very confused!!

So you all think rosie is a roo?? That is why I am confused because she/he is dark and has black down the front of her/his leg and it's not yellow. I thought Barred rock roos were lighter & has yellow legs.

"Faith" appears to be a pullet, "Moby" and "Rosie" are both definite roosters, and I'm not sure on "Charley"... Could go either way.

"Rosie's" coloring coupled with his comb and wattles are very confusing. The coloring says female, but the comb and wattles say definite rooster. He must be an accidental Barred Rock cross that somehow got mixed in with the purebreds at some point. I have a rose combed Rhode Island Red/Silver Laced Wyandotte x Barred Rock that's colored like that, but with one single gold/red colored hackle feather. I've thought about plucking the feather and then try to sell him as a Dominque rooster........ Just kidding! I'd never do that, but it is rather tempting, LOL.

He's got the comb, the body shape, the tail shape, all that down to a "T," even though he has no Dominique in him! The main exception (besides his red hackle feather) is that he's got the darker female coloring, vs. the lighter male coloring, but most people don't know that there's a difference. But he's kinda mean and so he'll be joining us for dinner soon... In the place of honor, LOL!

Lol if they only knew the trouble their in! I am gonna have to change Rosie's name but he definitly seems to rule the flock! He is hilarious! Moby has been very mean to my baby chics that are almost 6 weeks old so he is gonna be guest of honor at our table too! So does faith but at least she will give us eggs!! I hope charlie turns out to be a pullet!
