I have 2 hens who just began to lay eggs. Tonight I noticed they both have VERY large and soft crops. Is this unusual? Thanks for any help!

I hope not. My Buff Orpington, aka bottomless pit, had a crop the size of a baseball today. And she still came running for bread bits!

Check the crop first thing is the morning. It should have gone down by early morning. It is common for the crops to be quite large later in the day after they've been eating all day. If it's still big in the morning, repost. Let us know if it's squisky or hard.
