Very LOUD hen

I'm assuming she's normal but WOW is she ever loud. Most of the day she squawks and makes lots of noise, nothing is wrong just wants to be heard i suppose. The other one never makes a peep. I'm thinkin all her noise makin helps to keep the dog away too! Any reason/ solution to quieting her?

Do you have a rooster? If not, sometimes the dominant hen tends to make a lot more noise. I had one that made the strangest sound, it was almost like she was trying to crow.

Yes, ive heard that suggestd before. No i dont have a roo but ive had her 2 weeks and got her from a man who had a large flock, so i dont really know the situation she came from either. shes also pretty aggressive so that would make sense lol, thanks.

Some hens are just noisy. I had one like that recently.....she always had something to say. She would just walk around the yard squawking at the top of her lungs. She wasn't trying to be the rooster.....I have plenty of them......just noisy! Kind of like the coworker in the office who never shuts up (oh wait, that's me).

I had a RIR hen once that was convinced she was a roo. She did some pretty strange stuff. Sometimes I wondered if she was a he, but every day I got 12/12 eggs.

if she came from a flock most likely she is making all the noise to call to the rest of the flock, I have a buff orpington that yells like a banchee when she can't see the other girls, I have to go out and call them over for her to get her to shut up.

My Leghorn gets all freakazoid when my Amerucana goes to lay in the nesting box.
Cant shut her up until I let her out of the run.
Im sure she thinks her buddy is missing, because as long as their together
they are calm, & quiet .

I had an Orpington who thought she had a career in opera. she liked to walk around singing her arias, sometimes at top volume, most of the day. My husband said it drove him crazy but even he admits to missing her now that she's gone.
