Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to the chicken raising. I purchased 2 baby bantams in May of this yr. I lucked out and got a rooster and a hen. Red and Amelia Egghart.
I recently received from a friend, 5 more chickens. A momma and her adopted babies. The babies were incubated. ( someone brought these eggs to my friend, asked her to hatch them, then never returned for them. So my friend had to find them a momma)
The mom (Bertha) is a black with emerald green tints on her feathers. The 4 babies are, well I really don't know lol. I believe 2 are polish crested ( Shadow, solid black feet, eyes, feathers and Roadrunner, brown and black), I think the white one is a brahma (no name
yet) and the other no clue (black with multiple colors).
I know for sure the black with multiple colors is a rooster (Bowser). The white one, no clue, but it's much bigger then the rest of the chickens.
My reason for posting is to see if anyone can help me identify the breeds and to ask can more then one rooster be in a small flock?

Fun! The bantam hen looks like a Mille fluer d'uccle, the white one I agree looks like a brahma, the black mama maybe an austrolorp or pekin (hard to tell her size), and the crested one totally looks like a polish to me. Beautiful birds!! So much fun!

Red and Amelia are not adopted by Bertha. They were my original babies.
Bertha (mom) is the big black one, then the white one, the 2 polish crested (I believe) and the black and multi colored rooster are her adopted babies. None share DNA. I mean they could some where down the line lol.

Thank you so far for the information. I'm going to research the names of the breeds mentioned.

After looking at photos of a cochin and austrolorp, I'm fairly certain Bertha is a black cochin. She is similar in size with Red, and has the feathered legs. The austrolorps, from images I saw, did not.
The new rooster (Bowser) is beautiful. I'm hoping he and Red get along because I'd love to keep both. If not, Bowser will have to find a new home. Red is my baby. Lol

After seeing these photos, she is indeed a cochin.
I'm taken a bit back by Shadow. The completely solid black polish. Eyes, legs, beak, everything solid. I'm not sure on gender of either polish. This one just keeps may attention.
