Hey all!

I got hybrid hens two weeks ago. All were getting on fine.

A week later, I introduced a cockerel. All the hens picked on him to begin with, but settled down after a day or two.

Yesterday, I noticed one of the chickens had become very lethargic. She was sitting down a lot, and not sticking with the group. I took some meal worms as a treat, and she was not interested; where as usually she would be going crazy!

Last night when I went to shut them away, she was sat only half in the roost; with her head looking out.

They are cordened off, but have a good 50m square to run around in.

This morning she laid an egg, but continues to go and sit by herself. I don't know if she is becoming an easy target; as the cockerel keeps chasing her. Sometimes he jumps on top and does his stuff; but other times it seems purely a chase. I have not seen him try to get on top of any of the other chickens; and worry she is getting a bit too much attention. When I went up to offer some treats, she hung back and didnt try to get anything. One of the other hens even gave her a bit of a peck. She soon moved away completely.

Any ideas what I should do? She does get up and wonder around slowly sometimes; but doesnt seem to be eating or drinking much. I couldnt see any lice in her poop, and no sign of redmite. I wormed them all at the beginning of the week.

She was such a character when they first arrived, and now seems like a completely different chicken. Any advice welcome!

Thank you!

Emily

I am really starting to worry about her now.

She seemed to have perked up yesterday, but bad again this morning,

She either just sits by herself, or finds a quiet corner to go and stand. She doesn't seem to be eating or drinking and appears smaller than the others. During the day, there is little evidence of bullying from the others, but I did find a couple of large feathers in the ark when I went to let her out this morning which I presume are hers.

I managed to catch her this morning, and cannot seem to see any lice or mite.

She was the most adventurous when I first got them all, and now just cowers in the corner.

Her poop is white and very runny.......

HELP PLEASE! I have only had them 2 weeks and never kept chickens before.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP!

I now have her in a cat travel box in side. She is barely moving and not interested in the hard boiled eggs and meal worms I have put in front of her.. This morning I massaged her crop, and she was a llittle sick, but not too much. I don't know what to do now!

Well it a week now since she last ate anything. She is drinking though.

I took her to the vet yesterday and he didn't have much of a clue.

I am almost entirely convinced it is sour crop. She is now on anti biotics and another drug to bring her temperature down. However, I am worried that her other organs may fail soon if they get no nutrition. I have been syringing nutri drops down each day.

The first 3 days I massaged the crop and she vomited a bit. I cannot get her to eat yoghurt or egg yolk.

Should I continue to get her to vomit while on anti biotics? The vet said not to; but he really didn't seem to have much of a clue.......

Her eyes are fine, and she is not gasping for air. She just stands by herself all day and barely moves.

She is only about 24 weeks old and I've only had her for 3!!!
