My rooster follows me, or stays at my side when I walk the entire time I am outside piddling around my property. When I first go outside, he runs up beside me and drops his wing to the ground and drags it. I thought something was terribly wrong with his wing, but there is nothing wrong with it. Does anyone know why he would run up and drop his wing down to drag the ground when he is following me around? He lets me pick him up and pet him, but sometimes he pecks me pretty hard for no reason. He has alternately good and bad behaviour when it comes to our relationship.

He likes you.

he is challenging you. just pick him up and carry him around for awhile. when he calms down then set him down, you need to establish your top roo of the coop before it gets worse.

He is not in a coop - I have one other rooster - the rooster that drags his wing was trying to kill the Brahma rooster - I have Brahma hens and didn't want to mix the EE rooster (wing-dragger) with the Brahma hens. The wing-dragger lives in a fenced garden/flowerbed area with 1 BO hen. He chases her around and she runs screaming, but he doesn't hurt her as far as I can tell. I pick Hannibal up every day and pet him for a few minutes until he falls asleep, then I just hold him for a while as he sleeps. But, I can't pick him up and hold him every time I go outside. I am not sure when he approaches me that he wants to be picked up and petted, or if he is wanting to just peck me. He was jumping on top of my head and pecking my head, but after a couple of whacks, he stopped that. Now he will just occasionally peck me. I love this rooster, I just don't want him to peck me as it smarts pretty badly!
