I hatched a male Cayuga duck along with his three siblings earlier this summer. I have since given away the other three. He has been a faithful pet to me all summer, swimming with me, driving with me, biking with me. He loves to be held and petted, once he gets over his shyness. His beautiful black feathers reflect green, purple, and blue. He is fine having small dogs around, and will follow them around the yard.
I am not able to keep him over the winter, because of the combination of the bitter Illinois weather and my busy schedule. I would love for him to get a good home where he could be safe and not bullied by other birds. I would also love if I could visit him at his new home, but that is not a requirement. The only alternative to finding him another home is giving him away for meat, which I don't think I could handle. Please reply no matter where you live, because I might be able to ship him to you. I live in Illinois, near the Wisconsin border.

I have not put a diaper on him. The only reason I have not is because my mom would never stand to have him in the house, otherwise I would have. I'm sure you could train him on a diaper if you were willing to. He does enjoy falling asleep in my hands.

That's a beautiful story I'd take him but I'm sure the first time he got in my chickens drinking water(kiddy pool) they would flip there lids how is he at gaurding chicks? My silkie roo might like the help it would be inside with no standing bodies of water

I honestly don't know how he would do with chicks. He's only a few months old and hasn't seen chicks. If you're willing to take him, I'm willing too! Thank you for replying!

Erin's Farm in Monee IL will surely take him in. They do that all the time - they're really good people and you'll be able to visit. Look them up on Facebook or Google.

She did @Miss Lydia ! I was worried my mom wasn't going to be able to drive him there, because she didn't want me to make the drive. But it eventually worked out and now he is very happy there with other ducks and bunnies! Erin is a very sweet lady and she takes very good care of her animals. :) Thank you so much @vjdanko for suggesting her!
