Vet Found Ecoli and Baccilus in poop sample, help please!

The vet has found Ecoli and Baccilus, and undigested food in poop sample...but we have been giving kefir...we are confused as to what to do because isnt ecoli normal in a chicken and isnt baccilus in kefir?

Our girl seems to digest 'new' food. But not the small squishy bit with few grains thats been in her over 10days. How is that possible? We found a new seed in poop. She poops more overnight with new food. But during the day when shes left with that old slush bit in crop, her poops go scanty and small.

Shes on day 2 of epsom salt flush.
Posture like a feathered football, round, head low, tail up, head tucked in.

Her breathing has improved over last 3 days.

Please why cant the old slush move? On massaging in the liquids, it gets soft and malleable, but its just not going through like new food.

Is manuka honey good? Should we do sulfa? Shes not wanting eat or drink, just tiny nibbles of food she likes. Please help. Thankyou

I agree with your statement in the first paragraph. Yes, e coli is common in the gut of animals, including humans. And yes baccilus subtilis is good gut bacteria. Neither of which I would consider related to a real problem. What did the vet say about it?

Are you providing sufficient grit the correct size for the size of the bird? The proventriculus (true stomach) provides digestive acids to the food and then it enters the gizzard where it should be sufficiently ground by the contraction of the gizzard muscles and the insoluble stones in there like granite or flint.

I would go back to basics. Just feed a FRESH pelleted or crumble ration for a while with no scratch grains or access to long fibrous grasses. I would add a probiotic like Gro2Max formulated specifically for chickens.

Some NutriDrench wouldn't hurt for a day or so. That provides vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids that hit the bloodstream immediately and tends to perk up birds.

Avoid medications (unless prescribed) or foodstuffs that aren't natural to chickens. Try to provide the nutrients the chicken needs to return the system to working order and nothing that would disrupt digestion.

Grit needs to be large enough to lodge in the gizzard. Given the right conditions, a bird can find grit on its own but sometimes what they need isn't available and it is cheap so I always have a cage cup of the correct size near the feeder so they have access to it.

Any feed store should carry adult poultry grit. Chick grit is too small to do anything.
