Looks interesting. When the chicks hatch they will be crawling all around. You may want a a container of water with some type of mesh covering so the chicks can't crawl in there and drown.

Another thought is to put a bunch of rocks in the water dish so they crawl above the water, but that would leave a lot less water surface area so you'd need more containers to keep humidity up. I'm sure they had a way to manage that but I don't know what that would have been. What's under that perforated plate? Light bulbs for heat?

The perforated tray lifts out, nothing under. The heat all comes from a heating element in the top of the lid. I last used it in 1997.

My old incubator did good. I set it with 24 RIR eggs & hatched 20. I don't know what the average is, but I am happy. Looks like my Roo is doing his job.
