I didn't know until a couple of years ago that there was a difference. There is certainly a PRICE difference between the two, and most of the posts that talk about using linoleum remnants are actually referring to vinyl remnants.

When vinyl flooring became available in new and brighter colors, Americans stopped using Linoleum. If you have an old house, like mine, you might want to put it "back" in your kitchen, where it probably used to be.
