Lets see
A jewelry store on the main street through the city was robbed at 10am on a weekday.
3 girls were carjacked and kidnapped at gunpoint. Luckily one of the girls had sense to discreetly dial 911 and then talk to the guy about what he was doing.
a 20 year old homeless man just raped a 6 year old
I just applied for a job that I am over qualified for. At the same time I was filing out the application another woman came in that didnt even have her own car and barely spoke English. Guess who will be getting that job. Not me. Her since I have an education and experience.
A pizza joint in the area was robbed not once, not twice but THREE times in 2 weeks.
Blockbuster on the main drag went out of business.
The mayor is shutting off street lights through out the city. It's either that or lay off police officers.
I lock my door even when we are home. I lock my cars door when driving through the city to go buy grain or to take care of my horse. Sitting in a drive thru makes me nervous. The drive up ATM? Oh yeah. Not feeling safe there anymore. Its in a parking lot near a bridge and train tracks! No store fronts facing it.
My coop and run now have padlocks on them. And I am even more suspicious of people walking around the neighborhood.
I am using all the training I got to keep myself, my family and my property safe.
