Vitamin B1 homemade?

The reverse is true. You need to be sure NOT to give vitamins while you give Corid. It would be competing with the Corid, which is trying to deprive the cocci of B1.

When they are well, after they have finished the Corid, a course of vitamins as well as probiotics (a few spoonfuls of yogurt for a few days is fine) is fine -- but not now.

Being able to tell coccidiosis and vitamin b1 deficiency apart in chickens can be hard because the symptoms are so similar. People are telling you to give her supliments because when they lack vitamin b1 their lethargic and start having neurological problems like wryneck. Be sure you know which one they have because using either treatments for the wrong one will result in death the corid treatment prevents chickens from getting vitamin b1 and the vitamin b1 would feed the cocci bacteria I know this post is old but this is for future reference:) always make sure it's not a vitamin deficiency of some kind before going straight to antibiotics 🙌

Giving vitamin B1 to treat cocci doesn't make sense. Cocci are a protozoa that can kill birds, or at least make them quite ill, especially without treatment. Treatment is Corid, which blocks the uptake of thiamine (Vitamin B1) in the cocci. Here a two of many threads here on the subject.

Judy what this drug does you are recommending prevents the coccidiosis from absorbing the B1. That's what coccidiosis does it steals the B1 or thiamine from the chicken causing deficiencies. It makes great sense to make sure your birds have a adequate supply of B1 to prevent deficiencies.

:welcome Sorry but poster has not been on BYC since 2017. But when treating for coccidiosis and giving Corid you don't want to give B1 as it counteracts the treatment of Corid rendering treatment much less affective.
