vitamin question: SV-Biotin for ducklings?

Our vet recommended SV-Biotin for our 7 week old duckling. Half a tablet, crushed in water. I know she will only drink maybe half the water. So, actually 1/4 tablet. Anyone used this? Do the ingredients/dose seem correct for a 7 week old? (The vet says this will help her feathered out. She has no adult feathers yet due to being sick.)

(This is a Turkish product. I apologize for the weird translation.)

It has 15mg of niacin so yes it is good it will help keep your ducklings legs strong. Can you try giving it to her so she get full dose? Maybe mix it with a tiny amount of water and offer it over something tasty like dried mealworms or watermelon, the main thing is ensuring she gets full dose and like you said putting it in drinking water doesn't assure she is getting a good amount. What has she been sick with?

Thanks for your advice. Limon had pneumonia. Her legs are still weak from it and her feathers are just starting to come in.

The niacin in this vitamin should help just keep it up until her legs are strong and then for a week after. They should be on a niacin supplement until at least 10-12 weeks old that is when they are growing fast. Keep us updated on how she is doing. What breed is she again I remember you saying in another thread but I have forgotten.

Thanks! Proper supplements aren't as easy to get in Turkey. I'm hoping this one will do well for Limon. I'm told she is a Pekin duck. Similar to the white American Pekin.

If you can get Nutritional yeast that would be good to give her her whole life unless you would rather stick with the vitamins you have now, But being she is a Pekin they really need the extra niacin to keep their legs strong. Nutritional yeast can be found in natural food stores. or online.

I'd love to give nutritional yeast, but I haven't seen it locally. It's not available to purchase at stores here but possibly online. I'll check and see if we can order some.
