After three weeks my Isa Browns have settled in to a routine. I enjoy spending time and just watching their surprisingly varied social life and personality types. I'm learning everything about chicken ranching for the first time. Here in West Africa, we give pullets three primary products: "AMIN'Total--amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements; TETRACOLVIT--oxytetracycline, colistin, and vitamins; and LEVALAP.
The dosage info leaves me scratching my comb. LEVALAP says, " In drinking water. 1g/10 kg body weight=1g/liter in a single meal (100 g sachet for 100 liters of water.) This leads to a number of questions. 1.Must I weigh each hen? 2. If I mix 1g/liter of water, that would be way more than one hen seems to drink and how do I control the dosing? The teracyclene says to give the dosage in drinking water--same question as previous and to give for 3 to five days as a preventive. Three to 5 days with what frequency--obviously more than just one time. The vitamins say to give for five to 10 days--same questions.
I can troubleshoot a solar water pump, do major maintenance on a diesel generator, and hook up a water tank with no problem. I struggle to understand simple dosage instructions. I would appreciate any directions from wiser minds.
