I have a 2 year old hen that is sick. Two days ago I observed that she was vomiting a thin, yellow liquid. This is my first experience with an ill bird, so I have very little to go on. After a lot of reading I suspect sour crop, as she will vomit any time I pick her up & massage her throat/breast. However, I attempted to locate her crop & didn't have much luck finding anything unusual. Could it be possible that she just has a tummy bug? What is the best course of action here? Yesterday she was in the coop & I did see her drinking, but after bringing her indoors today I don't think she is eating or drinking at this time. Any advice would be wonderful, I don't even know where to start!

Welcome to BYC. Sour crop can accompany other problems, and may happen after a long bout of impacted crop. Nystatin, medistatin, and other antifungal meds are used to treat this. Don't give whole grains until it is resolved, but feed soft moist chicken feed, apple sauce, yogurt, and scrambled egg. Vomiting a chicken is very dangerous, so I would not recommend this. At the top of this page you can do a search for sour crop, and find many good threads.
