I had posted on craigslist looking for some bantam hens mainly OEG or Serema. Someone emailed me saying they have 3 Vorwerk hens just over a year. Who else has these and what is their personality like? The chart shows they are medium layers is that true? Are they decent bantams to raise as dual purpose since that's what they are listed or not worth it?
Thanks
Anna

If they are actually vorwerks id snatch them up in a heartbeat! 9 out of 10 times people try to sell lakenvelders as vorweks

I think they are not technically a bantam- just a smaller hen?

This is my understanding. I have been studying about Lakenvelders- but don't have any. Click on breeds at the top left of this website, and look for lakenvelders.

I think ChooksChick had her flock for sale not too long ago- don't know where you live. I was wishing I lived closer to her so I could buy her out.

Oh- sorry I see you live in OH.

I hope this isn't a dumb question... But what's the difference between vorwerk and lakenvelders? I thought that vorweck was the german name for lakenvelder? Please enlighten me! Thanks .

They are a true bantam, and not to be confused with a lakenvelder. They are not the same, although they do have similiar color.
