Does anyone have a picture of a Cochin with vulture hocks? I'm trying to figure out exactly what they are. In the future, it will help me determine which of my two roosters to breed. One has better coloring, and the other seems generally more Cochin-y.

So, from the links you posted, it looks like my cockerel (on the right) has vulture hocks. Is that correct?

Darn, that's too bad, because he has such great Mille Fleur coloring compared to the one on the left.

That's good to know. Of course, if I got rid of them, my DW would get rid of me!

Has anyone known a bird to grow out of vulture hocks? I've never bred birds with them.
Vulture hocks are a recessive gene; I expect someone at some time has used Mille Fleur Barbu D'Uccles as an outcross to start mille fleur pattern in their cochins.
Since each parent of the bird will have had a vulture hock gene, it is quite likely that other birds from the same lines are carrying a gene for the trait. But you have other genes to worry about, & Rome wasn't built in a day.
