Hi, so I have a new silkie and someone has mentioned that she may be vulture hocked, what does this mean in terms of showing, and is it possible to remove them?

Can you post a picture?

Vulture hocks are considered a serious defect (DQ, actually, I think) in all breeds except Sultans, Booted Bantams, and I believe d'Uccles.

They aren't something that can be removed - they are as much a part of the bird as a crest or beard. They are genetic as well, so birds with vulture hocks should not be bred if you are intending to show.

Here is the photo, I'm pretty sure she is vulture hocked, which is such a shame :(
