Waddles my duck is gone

Lastnight I went to the coop to shut the girls up and couldn't find my duck that I've had over a year now. I had seen a skunk the night before and set the live trap but he didn't get in the trap. I am sad because she laid such nice eggs and she was given to me. I am down to one duck now.

I'm not sure if it was a skunk for sure that got her, but I have noticed my eggs aren't as plentyful as they had been. I will have to buy two more ducks to replace her.un

Skunks are more likely to eat the eggs...someone else probably got her. Sorry for your loss.

Awww, I am so sorry...I agree with spotted crow...more likely a coon, or dog. Maybe she just wandered off, and will come home!!

One of mine (probably the one that just started laying) tried to hide in the mint bushes a couple of nights ago and not be put up. She's been giving me more and more trouble with going into the coop at night, and would like to "disappear" in the evening.

I hope yours is just hiding, and comes home!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am thinking it isn't the skunk, I am thinking bigger. The live trap was knocked over the other night. Yesterday morning; I had just a half door on my coop and I seen blood and lastnight after I got off of work I built a new door for the girls. They are secure during the night now. I think I only lost one but not quite sure, as I had 94 chickens, 1 rooster, and 2 ducks. I counted them lastnight and was pretty sure I was just one short, but it is kind of hard to count them when they are all roosted together. Have a good weekend everyone.
