One of my rescue hens, I guess about 2 -3 years old (had her 8 months) is finding it difficult to walk, waddling like a duck, using her wings as stabilisers. Her abdomen is large and squishy. Very messy bottom. I've brought her in and sat her in a sink of warm water and washed her rear end off. She's eating OK, (tucked into a blueberry/blackberry flan I had hanging around!) and I've given her Poultry drops, which often perk up sad hens. But she's now sat on the floor with one of the cats, tail down and wings spread to balance herself. She's one of ten and I didn't see her doing this yesterday; she had roosted with the others when I went to lock them up last night. Any bright ideas please?

Sounds like peritonitis... One of mine has been going through this and it sounds similar... its a vets job... It started with mine about 2 months ago - she got some of the fluid drained... antibiotic and painkiller/anti-inflam injections then a course of loxicom and baytril..for at least 2 weeks... its come back so she was drained yesterday and has more meds for the next couple of weeks...
came across this thread coz I was looking for a cream that was safe to use on her... where she's had the catheter needle... its been leaking a bit... :(
