Hi all!

I joined a while ago when I got my first 2 chickens. Unfortunately they got had by a fox a few weeks ago :( they were taken at about 10am while free ranging. Anyway, I upgraded the run and went and got 3 new hens today! An Oxford Brown, an Oxford Blue and a Cream Leghorn.

They are all 16-18 weeks old. The brown is very friendly and likes a cuddle, the blue is apprehensive but ok, and the leghorn is very very skitty - but it's day one so I'm sure she will settle out!

Happy to have chickens again and can't wait for the first eggs!

Nice pics! Here where I live we have LOTs of critters wanting to get at the chickens..raccoons, fox, hawks, etc. My chickens will never be allowed to free-range. Their run area will be 1/2" HC totally buttoned up...Best of luck to you!

Thanks, will try and get some better ones today ...and some video with my GoPro camera.

Here in Oxford, England we only really have foxes and badgers. There are birds of prey like buzzards but not in this area. I was very surprised that the fox had them - we hadn't seen or heard a fox the whole time we lived here but the b*stard was sun bathing the next day in our neighbours garden. I couldn't get my gun quick enough and it ran away. We have just bought a motion sensor water squirter thing, and some fox repellent pellets. I guess we can only let them free range while we are here.
