My girls are 16 weeks old tomorrow and I have been letting my ladies free range but i'm thinking that I don't want them laying eggs anywhere but in their nest. Do chickens always lay eggs in the morning (I know its a silly question)? Also I have two boxes is that enough for seven chickens? Any other advise while Im waiting for my chickens to lay eggs?

My chickens lay throughout the day, some even lay at night! I think it depends on the breed, but I'm not exactly sure.
I would advise getting at least one more box. I have at least one for every three hens, and that ratio seems ok.

Chickens can lay throughout the day. Since mine are new layers I dont let them free tangle until around 6pm. By then, anyone who is going to lay would have already. I would also say get another box but I have 6 boxes for 11 chickens. They all lay in the same one 🤦‍♀️

Mine are also new layers and they lay anywhere between 4pm and 6 am. And they lay anywhere and everywhere; In the boxes, off the roost, behind the waterer. I have one that sneaks back down to the tractor after I’ve turned them out to range.🙄
