Went down and mucked out the chicken coop, put a lot of fresh bedding in there. Sunday, is day 21, so peeping could be starting tomorrow - unfortunately, we have an out of town funeral. They are on their own.

I always let my hens brood where they want to. And once in a while, I will find her brooding happily on the wrong nest. Ugh! I just move her back, but this time I took all the fake eggs out of the other nests. The hens have been laying in the other nests for months. And this time she got back on the right nest every single time. So maybe that helps.

Also on here, I read to put soil into the nest, with a hollow in the center then bedding on top of that. I have had problems with eggs breaking in the past, sometimes to the point, I don't get chicks. I lost a couple before I did that, but none since. We will see. Hope I get some live chicks, but if not, this time of year, you can get fresh chicks.

I love this hobby,

Mrs K
