Waiting on chicks this week! (May 1st)

We're expecting 27 New Hampshires (25 pullets/2 roos), 3 EEs, 3 Rouens (1M/2F), and 10 guineas (st run hatchery choice) this week from Ideal.

Anyone else waiting on chicks this week?

I am, but way less than you! I am expecting my first chicks ever. I'm hoping to pick them up as day-olds on Wednesday. 4 red sex-links and 2 hopefully female plymouth barred rocks!

Mine are supposed to be mailed from Meyers tomorrow (Monday). 5 barred Plymouth rocks, 5 partridge rocks, and 5 silver laced wyandottes. I wanted some speckled sussex, but they were out. Although I was raised on a farm, I haven't seen a live chicken in decades! I chose these breeds because I was looking for two main traits. One was that they are fairly docile and the other was that they are cold hardy because I live in far northern Wisconsin, along Frank's 45th parallel!!

My post office called on Sunday morning to come pick them up! Glad they did because my free exotic chick is not doing well. All other chicks are doing fine but the unidenified chick is not active. I have seen it drink and peck at the crumble. I have chick starter in their water and gave it a amped up dose plus I have tried yogurt and mashed cooked carrots but no luck. The others kept pecking at her so I pulled her out and I'm going to hold or "cup" her next to me until she gets better or passes.....

I have some chicks coming from Meyer's, I think they should arrive on Tuesday. Went in with 4 other people, we had to order 25 but only 5 are mine. 2 Mottled cochins bantam straight run, 1 white orp pullet , 1 SL wyandotte pullet, and another (blue?) LF cochi straight run. We ordered blue but I guess some could be white or black or blue? so it depends... Any roo's will be going bye bye when we discover them.

I got the last of my chicks I have been waiting for coming this week also. Some from Meyer and some from My Pet Chicken. 10 more altogether. I hope they come the same day. Should be tomorrow since today is their hatch day. Can't wait!
