waiting on eggs

have you ever went to the coop and noticed the hen sitting in the nestbox, so you decided to wait? i want to know i'm not the only person who my husband thinks is a nut...... by the way he is in las vegas, so if i went to look at new chickens that's not cheating , right?

Sometimes but after a few mins I give up. I've only seen 1 egg laid, and opened the box once *right* after my RIR had popped one out. I swear they see me coming and decide to hold it.

well, i must have good timing! i actually have picked them up out of the nest box still wet. i have one hen that's a new hampshire that i won't bother.....she will draw blood. i just come back later for hers.

Oh, I've found lots of wet eggs - those are less than 30 seconds old - but only seen one fall out!
