It is bad enough I lost more cash then I could afford and one client will ot replace her 150 dollar check.... I cant replace my driver license! To do so they need my Social Security card (ordered a new one) other stuff and a certified copy of my birth certificate! To get my birth certificate I would need to drive 450 miles and have a state issued ID (driver's License)

Sounds like you are going to be taking a day off and driving 900 miles.

I drove 1200 miles Fri/Sat for a wedding (round trip) it can be done.

Do you have one of your old expired ones? I have used an old one when mine was lost.

I don't have anything other then a voter card. I needed my mortgage papers notarized and they almost would not do that at the court house!!!

After I get a back card again I will try to decide what to do.

I live over 650 miles from my birthplace, and was able to get a copy of my birth certificate without having to travel there to get it. They sent me a form thru the mail that I had to fill out and send back with a check or money order for my copy. You might be able to do the same. Most places have a number you can call if you live out of State to get a copy of your BC.

Something like ten million undocumented illegal aliens live in this country without papers, and you probably will be the one person to get hung up in the system.

Hopefully, the thieves just throw the documents away and keep the money. Otherwise, they will be buying all sorts of good stuff using your ID.

I wish you luck;I am afraid you are going to need it.

My wife lost her DL. Her BC was water stained and they wouldn't accept it. Fortunately she was able to get a copy but it took a couple weeks. Since 911 it's a lot harder to do a lot of things legally.

Yes. DH had to do the same, and it came really fast. They just needed parent's names and other details. But if you had a valid DL, and know the number, you should be able to get a replacement one. They do it all the time for people who swim with their wallets.

And don't get paranoid, as some have suggested. Just deal with it and move on.

As a BTW, don't carry your SS card in your wallet.
