Im a newbie. :)

We have 12 layers, 2 roosters and 4 bantam show birds. They have a fenced area that is appx 40x40' but they choose to hang out in the rest of the yard instead.

Id love to add some ducks (layers/pets) this spring. Id like the ducks to stay in back, but the chickens dont so I have no idea what to do.
Should the ducks be penned up in the main run at night? Is that enough, do they need a coop?

Thanks for any advice
Regina

From Front
"Run" measure 16x16', 4 bantams stay in at all times, all other birds free-range all day.

From back - open area measures appx 50x50'
tall building has secure area with 3x7' space for more roosting/boxes.

main coop - 2 long 2x4s for roosting + 6 boxes.

Ducks need a secure coop and protection from the elements, just like chickens. Most breeds don't roost but would need floor space to sleep.

our run has a roof and is completely secure, we dont close up our coop at night.
so they could just sleep in the run? maybe a dogloo?
