Want To Breed Color/Splash/Speckle into Red Star Laying Flock- Suggestions?

I have a nice docile flock of Red Star hens with a few Red Star roosters....they are friendly and docile and are terrific egg layers and make great family pets....I would like to add some color into the bunch keeping in mind that I wish to preserve the mild temperament and extra large egg laying capability....I love splashes, speckles and feather lacing....can anyone give me an experienced opinion on what breed of chicken I can mix in giving me some wild color without compromising the big eggs or gentle temperament??
