I live in Wichita, KS and got my first 3 chicks this spring--all different breeds. One was a Barred Rock and I fell in love with that silly girl! She would run up to me when she saw me, follow me around the yard, come when I called her and even sit in my lap and eat out of my hand. The other 2 girls followed her around and she was kind of like their group lead. Unfortunately she got in the neighbor's yard and their dog got her. I had even clipped her wing hoping that and my 6' fence would keep her in the yard. It didn't work. I miss that silly girl and would like to get another Barred Rock pullet.
I'm getting some fence work done Friday and there will be an area just for the birds and it will be covered as well. That should keep them safer.
Does anybody know of a place near Wichita, Kansas that sells Barred Rock pullets? MUST - MUST- be a pullet. Roosters are not allowed in town. I want a friendly pullet to be a pet (not dinner). My other pullets are about 5 months old.
