I was thinking of making a new incubator out of plywood, and I was wondering if a little heater from walmart or canadian tire would be to hot? The incubator would be about 2 or 3 feet long. I figure It would be good because it is a fan and heater in one. Would it be too hot? It does have a built in thermostat built in but i dont know when it shuts off.

I have a little heater from Wal-mart. Most of the 'newer' models have settings for up to 85 degrees. Most likely it would not get hot enough to keep the eggs warm. Also, I doubt those little heaters are very touchy so you could have huge temperature swings in the incubator. If you can find one that stays on all the time you can get a reptile thermostat (not a rheostat) to regulate the temperature and that would probably work. Or you could do what I did and just buy the heating element used in the Sportsman, they're probably cheaper than one of those heaters anyway.
