I currently have a 16X8 divided in the middle with two 3X3 corner cages built inside. I just want to get more ideas that would make it easier or look better for when I expand it next year. I figured each 8X8 would be a grow out and the 3X3 corner boxes would be for the breeders or show birds to stay clean and lay pure eggs. 1 breed or color per 8x8.

This is the coop I built last yr(not completed in pic). This pic was before I added the breeding cages inside and a few other small mods-havent added an updated photo of it recently:(

This is one of the cages...I want to make it bigger in the future like 4X3

I am also interested to see the setup people have for breeding pens/coops. I'm looking to add a couple new breeds so I need to build some new spaces to keep them separated from the rest of the flock. Wondering if most people do indoor/outdoor spaces for their breeding pens, and would love to get some ideas from people who have experience with multiple run setup. I looked through the coop designs and most of them were coops with large runs for a mixed flock...

Thanks!

I think hear crickets:(

hey i am also redoing my pens and changing around my breeds i have silkies and since they go broody alot i was thinking of keeping my roos and hens seperate to prevent unwanted hatchings so i would have a pen to keep my roo in and then a pen for breeding /brooding and then a pen to kepp my hens in i will try to post some pics afterwards, oh and also wat silkie colors do yall think i should breed

I am working on my chicken barn, was a 24x24 dog barn, I have five 4x6x5 tall one 4x14x5 tall at one end for my LF cochins, each pen has a door that is on a cable to close up at nigt or in bad weather, outside will be a 4x10x6 tall pen made out of dog kennels.. there is also a 12x12 office for my incubators and feed and supplys. I can not add a picture as it says I do not have permisson to add them. sorry,

Lois

I forgot to ask, how do I heat the water for them when it gots to cold?

Thanks
Wow, your only sooo lucky to have that set up!:) haha The barn doesnt have electric? If it actually drops to freezing inside there then you may want to stretch an extension cord out there and get heated waterers...or what I did last winter.....I would bring the waters into the cellar at night and put them out in the morning.

Are those nesting boxes I see?? If so, thats a big much i would think

And Im not sure how cold it gets in the winter but its prob a much shorter freezing season for you down in AK......up here in CT its a bit of a pain in the winter:(
